Two brown kraft paper pouches of Kangoha Jiloube nuts, a small jar of honey, and a large brown gift box tied with a yellow ribbon on a light marble surface against a neutral background.

Three things that keep, and one of them is saffron. Two grams of Super Negin threads, hand-graded so only the deep red tips survive the sort. Around three hundred crocus flowers went into that jar. Stone-in Ashtaq apricots, dried whole in the sun with the kernel still inside, the way Afghan orchards have always done it. Red jujube dates for the tea tray, crisp and apple-sweet. Small enough to send without occasion. Good enough that it lands like one. Hand-packed in a rigid gift box with a card you can write on.
